September is apple cider time, and it is a great time to visit the 10th Anniversary Cider Summit in Seattle. Even the most experienced apple cider aficionados will find something new here. Attendees can sample over 150 ciders, cider cocktails, and apple spirits made just for the event. Local cider producers show off their best and allow you to sample a few too.
The event will take place on September 6 and 7, 2019, at Lake Union Park. This year’s Cider Summit will be at a new place located at 860 Terry Ave. North, so be sure to update your calendar. The event is Friday from 3 PM to 8 PM, but those with VIP tickets can begin the celebration of Seattle’s favorite fall crop at 2 PM. You can also join in on Saturday from 12 noon to 5 PM. General admission tickets will set you back $35 and VIP tickets are $45.
While at the festival, you can enjoy the Oregon Fruit Products Fruit Cider Challenge. This challenge pits local cideries against each other to see who will be named the 2019 Champion. The winner will be determined by text vote during festival hours. There will also be plenty of food vendors with small bite sampling and live music. Your furry friends are welcome at the Dog Lounge, hosted by the Seattle Humane Society. The lounge will provide shade, water, and treats for well-behaved dogs on a leash.
This year’s event will feature 54 participants. Each participant can offer their top three artisanal ciders. Some of the vendors include Wildcraft Cider Works, Washington Gold Cider, Chatter Creek Cider, and the Seattle Cider Co. You can sample selections such as Hop/Rageous, Peach Berry, Cider Summit Reserve, and Spiced Peach. It will be a fun event and it will feature over 150 inventive artisanal cider creations.
Hard Ciders will be served, and this is a strictly 21-and-over event; no babies or toddlers will be allowed in the venue. This event is sponsored by Capital Cider and supported by many local merchants. Proceeds for the event will go to the Northwest Cider Association, the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research, and the Seattle Humane Society.
Other Reasons to Visit Seattle
The Cider Summit is a great time for all, but that is not the only reason to visit Seattle. Seattle is a beautiful, modern city, and one of the most iconic symbols is the Space Needle. Another popular attraction is The Chihuly Garden and Glass display. The works of Chihuly continue to amaze visitors with their brilliant color and captivating forms. You can enjoy a wonderful exhibition of Chihuly’s work at the Seattle Center.
Where to Stay
When you come to visit the Cider Summit and the other attractions that Seattle has to offer, you need accommodations that will add to the experience of your visit. One of our favorite downtown Bellevue hotels is the Hyatt Regency Bellevue on Seattle’s Eastside. It is located in the heart of the world-class downtown shopping, dining, and entertainment district. If you want to be closer to the water, the Four Seasons Seattle overlooks Elliott Bay and puts you right by the famous Pike Place Market and Seattle Art Museum.
